Events Committees

Our Events Committees bring together a diverse group of Legal Voice community members who work to ensure we have fun and successful events. Our organization holds two major events each year: an auction in the fall, and a less formal spring event. Event Committee members attend regular meetings and take ownership in creating powerful and exciting events that strengthen and engage our community. Committee members have the opportunity to participate in one or both events. We also seek a chair for each event from among Event Committee members.

Qualifications

Some experience with event planning or fundraising is helpful. Positive energy and a willingness to jump in and get involved are a must!

Responsibilities

  • Work as a team with a diverse group of women's rights advocates
  • Create and follow a timeline leading up to the event
  • Participate actively in brainstorming
  • Attend regular meetings, beginning 4-6 months before the event
  • Take charge of one or more significant event preparation tasks (see below)
  • Seek sponsorship from corporations, law firms, other entities
  • Procure items for the auction
  • Function as ambassadors to our community at the event

Time Commitment

In the 4-6 months of event planning preceding a major event, monthly and/or bi-monthly meetings will be held on weekday evenings. Committee members must attend these meetings and complete their portion of event-prep tasks on schedule. Meetings and tasks require a total of approximately 2-10 hours of work per week, most of which can be done in the evening.
